Unit Information
- Unit: Cardiovascular (CV) PreOp, Heart Tower (Building E)
- Number of Beds: 4
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Staffing: RNs with support from CNC, secretary, and manager shared with CVOR
- Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
- On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating: Within scope of practice and experience
Job Description
- Must have CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
- Work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity patient area
- Perform procedures including large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to OR; assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
- Critical care experience is required; PreOp experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental teams
- Strong critical thinking skills required
- Use of BCMA (Bar Code Medication Administration) and excellent documentation skills expected
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (mandatory)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
