Description
Registered Nurse (PCU) - Night Shift
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit and Patient Population
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Bed Count: 35 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
- Patient Types: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs
- Common Drips Titrated: Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure medications
- Charge Nurse present on each shift (charge nurse takes assignment)
- Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs ratio: approximately 1:10 or 2:20
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 1 year of experience on the unit or similar setting
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA certified
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Must pass a 90% or higher on a pass/fail open book skills exam during orientation
- Valid driver’s license required at submission to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
Orientation and Scheduling
- Orientation:
- First week: onboarding
- 1-2 days of unit-specific floor orientation
- Shifts:
- 0630-1900 (day shift) and 1830-0700 (night shift) available, this job is night shift
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating: May be required to float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units

Restrictions
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs seeking a night shift contract in a dynamic, adult progressive care setting.
