Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Location

• Nashville, Tennessee
• Unit: 3rd Floor, Neuro Med/Surg
• Unit Beds: 20
• Patient Ratio: 6:1

Employment Type

• Travel assignment
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week (12 hours each), including 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Hours per week: 36

Unit Environment & Equipment

• Tech support available on day and night shifts
• Unit secretary available 7 AM to 7 PM
• Equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, sequential compression devices (SCDs), continuous pulse oximetry, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Floating policy: Contract staff float first, rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled

Patient Care Expectations

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
• Conduct bedside shift reports
• Ability to build personal connections and involve patients/families in care planning

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Med/Surg experience

Skills & Experience

• Med/Surg experience required
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask effectively
• Competent in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required
