Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and leadership within the ICU environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on patient and family needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise plans of care.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and use appropriate education materials.
• Anticipate discharge needs and support patient/family advocacy.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Communicate effectively within and across departments.
• Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
• Engage in professional growth activities and provide feedback to coworkers.
• Incorporate cultural and ethnic considerations into patient care planning.
• Review relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school of nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing.

No prior travel experience required.
