Job Opportunity: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Work Type: Full Time
Weekend Requirement: Yes, every third or fourth weekend
On Call Requirement: Yes, scheduled in collaboration with staff
Patient Types: Cardiac catheterizations, peripheral procedures, TAVR, cardiac devices, and related interventions
Temp-to-Perm: Possible


Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician supports diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures by preparing the lab, equipment, and supplies. Responsibilities include assisting the medical team during procedures, maintaining sterile technique, operating and troubleshooting specialized cath lab equipment, ensuring accurate patient documentation, and prioritizing patient safety and departmental efficiency. The role fosters teamwork and adheres to organizational safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and ensure major cath lab equipment is operational; report issues as needed
  • Perform daily room checks and stock supplies
  • Review patient schedules and relevant information for procedures
  • Configure rooms, equipment, and supplies appropriately for each procedure
  • Collaborate with procedure team and leadership to ensure patient care and efficiency
  • Enter patient information and procedure documentation accurately into systems
  • Monitor hemodynamic measurements, ECG recognition, and patient positioning during procedures
  • Operate cath lab equipment such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), intracardiac echo (ICE), contrast injectors, hemodynamic systems, intra-aortic balloon pumps, rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, and left ventricular assist devices
  • Support physicians during procedures, including scrubbing and assisting with table movement during imaging
  • Maintain aseptic technique 100% of the time and intervene if sterile technique is compromised
  • Follow policies related to patient safety, privacy, infection control, and communication
  • Participate in patient transport as needed
  • Maintain proficiency in access site management
  • Serve as radiation safety representative during X-Ray use (without administering fluoroscopy)
  • Adhere to attendance, productivity, and dress code standards
  • Support organizational values and participate in unit councils, process improvement, and collaborative care models

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
