Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical / MS/Tele
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x12 hours), 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Hours per Week: 48 hours
Job Overview
- Medical Surgical nursing with Telemetry (MS/Tele) specialty.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:7 with team nursing support.
- Work setting: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center.
- On-call and weekend shifts required on a rotating basis.
- No block scheduling except possible weekend blocks.
- Strict 100-mile radius rule; local candidates not accepted.
- Start date: ASAP.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment.
- Trauma experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required and must be renewed annually.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment but not specified for this role.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter.
- Sex Offender Search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required.
- Two recent professional references required.
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation required if employed with agency for one year or more.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if positive, chest X-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire.
- Proof of immunizations or positive antibody titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year; must pass without limitations.
Facility & Job Specific Notes
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
- Photo badge required prior to start with strict guidelines (passport-style photo, no glasses glare, no hats/head coverings except religious).
- EPIC questionnaire required for RNs; EPIC experience may allow testing out of training.
- Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed before start.
- Onsite fit test and submission packet required prior to start.
Additional Information
- All Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be submitted with application; no changes allowed after offer.
- Candidates may only be submitted to one job ID/facility to avoid removal.
- Weekend and on-call shifts are part of the rotation and required as needed.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with trauma and large hospital experience who have prior travel assignments and are ready for a fast-paced, acute care environment with a structured team nursing model.
