    Description

    Registered Nurse – LDRP & Level 1 Nursery Unit (Night Shift)

    Location: Salida, Colorado
    Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
    Shift: 6 PM to 6 AM (36 hours per week)
    Schedule: Weekends required; holidays potentially required; overtime optional


    Job Summary

    Provide independent nursing care for laboring mothers and neonates in the Family Birthing Center. Assess and evaluate health status, collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans, and maintain safe and effective care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum phases. Act as a patient advocate and assist with procedures, emergencies, and unit operations as needed.


    Essential Duties

    • Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
    • Educate mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and wellness during and after pregnancy.
    • Document all care and education in patient medical records.
    • Communicate patient condition to physicians and nursing supervisors.
    • Collaborate with nursery nurses for mother/baby care.
    • Assist physicians with procedures and support nurse manager and staff as requested.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in the unit.
    • Support emergencies in other nursing units when possible.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
    • Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
    • Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) care
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

    Physical Requirements

    • Frequent standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing.
    • Occasional walking and sitting.
    • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.
    • Visual acuity including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to detect changes in odors.

    Additional Information

    • Prior travel experience is not required.
    • This position involves night shifts with weekend and possible holiday work.
    • Overtime is optional.
