Speech Pathologist - Inpatient Rehab (Travel/Contract)

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Saturday/Sunday)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Overview

• Full-time contract position in an acute care and adult outpatient setting
• Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
• Average daily census: 15 patients
• Facility size: 180 beds
• Patient diagnoses commonly include stroke and infectious respiratory diseases
• Supportive team environment with interpretation services, respiratory services, and unit secretary support
• Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
• Medication system: Pyxis

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
• Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) certification
• Experience in acute care and outpatient settings
• Experience in charge roles
• Experience managing a patient ratio of approximately 1:15

Work Environment & Schedule

• 5x8 day schedule (Monday to Friday)
• Rotating shifts: No
• Call required
• Weekend coverage every other weekend for half-day shifts
• Block scheduling type

Additional Requirements & Preferences

• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Unit accepts first-time travel therapists

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine or signed declination
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart (declinations not accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or signed declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart (declinations not accepted)
• Negative TB test (2 negative PPDs, Tspot, or Qgold) within 1 year of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
• TB questionnaire within 1 year for positive TB tests
• 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)

Background & Credentialing

• Current driver’s license or government-issued photo ID required
• Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance required before start and updated annually
• Standard background checks including SSN trace, county criminal, NSOFACIS, enhanced nationwide criminal search, and Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry search
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Facility-specific confidentiality agreement required

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care positions
