Registered Nurse (Stepdown Float Pool)

Location: Columbus, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Schedule: Every 2nd weekend rotation, holidays required

Job Overview

• Float between Med/Surg/Ortho, Cardiac Step Down, Med/Surg Step Down, and ICU units
• Care for Med/Surg and Step Down patients
• Units include:

  • Cardiac Step Down (17 beds)
  • Med/Surg Step Down (13 beds)

Patient Ratios

• Med/Surg: 1:5 (can surge to 1:6)
• Step Down: 1:4 (can surge to 1:5)

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license in Indiana or multi-state compact license
• 2 to 4 years of Step Down nursing experience (ASN required, BSN preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• COVID-19 vaccination required

Skills & Equipment

• Experience with Epic EMR system
• Familiarity with Accudose medication system and Hemochrone for ACT measurement

Orientation & Training

• 1-2 days Epic training
• 1 day hospital regulatory training
• 1 day/night floor orientation with a preceptor

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs, closed heel and toe shoes
• Will not work alone on shifts
