Occupational Therapist

Location

  • Urbana, Illinois

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Role Summary

  • Evaluates and treats patients of all ages
  • Develops and adjusts care plans based on patient response and evidence
  • Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and other healthcare providers
  • Documents evaluations, plans of care, treatment changes, and patient responses
  • Collaborates with the care team and provides supervision to COTA and rehabilitation technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Illinois
  • BLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy

Setting / Patient Population

  • Inpatient acute care setting
  • Approximately 500-bed Level 1 trauma center
  • 20-bed inpatient rehab unit with a majority neuro population
  • About 170 acute OT cases

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed
  • Use safe body mechanics to reduce injury risk
  • Select and perform appropriate examinations and screening procedures
  • Implement functional intervention plans
  • Use standardized outcome measures
  • Communicate patient status, discharge recommendations, and equipment needs to the medical team
