Description
Pediatric OR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours per week, total 36 hours/week)
On Call: Required; includes variable call days with overnight and weekend call. Typically 1-2 weekend 12-hour shifts and 1-2 weekday overnight shifts in a 6-week schedule.

Job Description
- Operate as an OR RN with scrub role required for this shift.
- Comfortable managing neuro cases (e.g., craniotomies, VP shunts), orthopedic cases, and airway emergencies.
- Primary role: Circulating nurse in the OR.
- Patient population ranges from neonates to adults across multiple surgical specialties including:
- Orthopedics/Spine
- Craniofacial/Neuro/Plastics/Oral
- ENT/Ophthalmology
- General/Urology/Gynecology/Robotics
- Cardiac
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington.
- Minimum 1 year of Pediatrics OR (Operating Room) experience within the last year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in neurosurgery.
- Experience in orthopedic surgery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric OR experience strongly preferred.
- Level 1 trauma skills and CNOR certification preferred.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred.
- 3+ years of overall OR nursing experience preferred.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background check including 7-year criminal history, county civil searches, national criminal database, sex offender registry, and other required screenings.
- E-Verify attestation required.
- Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if educated outside the U.S.
- Official transcripts or diplomas required for all RNs.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (accepted if given after age 11)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines
- Varicella titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive antibody titer or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct–March)
- TB screening: Qgold/Tspot within 12 weeks of start or 2 PPDs (one within 1 year, second within 12 weeks). Chest X-ray if past positive TB test.
- Respirator medical clearance and fit test (N95 or CAPR) valid for entire assignment length; fit testing on site not allowed.
- Annual respirator medical clearance required for those using respirators.
Competency & Skills Testing
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam required (exceptions for NICU, Occupational Health, Case Manager).
- General competency exam with minimum 80% score required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain critical care areas; remediation process in place if needed.
- Pediatric skills checklist required for all RN candidates not booked specifically in Pediatrics.
- Skills checklist for OR nursing and pediatric skills checklist upload required.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge must be submitted within 72 hours of contract signing; photo must have a blue background with no hats or headwear.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours). Epic inpatient nurse test-out modules required for some RNs.
- Math test administered onsite upon arrival; remediation allowed if failed, no cancellation for failure.
- EKG test required for PICU, CICU, NICU, and ER staff prior to start.
- Meal waiver agreement available but not required unless waiving second meal period.
- Payroll deduction authorization form required for parking charges if applicable.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with prior Seattle contracts within 6 months may have some documentation accepted as extensions (e.g., physical exam, TB test, drug screen).
- Prior pediatric experience is strongly preferred but candidates with strong neuro and ortho experience may be considered.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs comfortable with pediatric and complex surgical cases, who can manage variable call schedules including nights and weekends, and who meet the required certifications and compliance standards.
