Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:1
Floating: No floating between units
On-call: Not required
Weekends: Not required
Block Schedules: Not required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience
  • Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Orientation & Scheduling

  • Orientation: No non-billable orientation hours required (0 hours vs. standard 40 hours).
  • Schedule: Standard day shift, no weekends or on-call duties.

Uniform/Dress Code

  • Licensed personnel wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (scrub tops may have colored piping).
  • Print tops are not acceptable except in specific pediatric or women's services units.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols.
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates, updated annually.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required prior to start.
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS platform.
  • Medication and competency exams as applicable to specialty/unit.
  • Compliance with facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to nearby facilities).

Parking

  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor surface lots.

  • This position does not require floating between units or on-call duties.
  • No weekend or block scheduling required.
  • The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a short-term acute care focus.
