Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tampa, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
  • Caseload: 20-30 cases per day
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes
  • Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required; no floating to sister facilities
  • Locals: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Apply after first call off per pay period

  • Total Staffed Beds: 615
  • Unit has 4 procedure rooms (3 with biplane), equipment includes Siemens and GE systems
  • Charting system: Cerner EMR (preferred)
  • Parking cost: Included

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Florida
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist within the last year
  • BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • ARRT certification

Clinical Environment & Procedures

  • Treats a wide variety of cases including:
    • Stroke intervention and neurointerventions
    • Pulmonary embolism thrombectomy and thrombolysis
    • Deep vein thrombosis interventions
    • Pain management procedures
    • Oncology procedures including Y-90, MAAs, chemoembolizations

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Licenses & Certifications: Primary source verification required
  • Background Checks:
    • Standard background check within 1 year including 7-year history, sex offender, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
    • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
  • Education: Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was completed outside the US or Puerto Rico
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 6 months of start
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (annual TB questionnaire required)
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination (mask required if declined)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (exemptions accepted)
    • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days (instant tests not accepted)
    • Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required
  • References: Two professional references from within the past 2 years required
  • Employment Application & Skills Checklist: Must be submitted and available for review

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%) as applicable
  • Color blindness test (Relias) prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (not applicable here but may be requested)
  • Stroke education CEUs and NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for this role
  • Facility-specific online training modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
  • Professional photo for badge required before start
  • Compliance with facility dress code and tobacco policy

  • Scrub color: Black or Navy
  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call and weekend work
  • Block scheduling may be discussed during interview if applicable
