Job Description
- Provide respiratory therapy services across a variety of inpatient units in a community hospital setting.
- Work includes managing ventilators, performing arterial blood gases (ABGs), BiPAP, infant ventilators/CPAP, resuscitation, and EKGs.
- Patient population primarily adults, with some pediatric and neonatal patients in a family birthing unit (no C-sections).
- Coverage areas include all inpatient units, emergency department, inpatient and outpatient EKGs, and outpatient bronchoscopies.
- May initiate CPAP on infants.
- No coverage required for Sleep Lab, Pulmonary, or Cardiac Rehab.
- Assist with intubation but do not intubate independently.
- Typically manage 8-9 ventilators simultaneously in ICU.
- No critical care transport outside the facility required.
- Work schedule includes 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15), 36 hours per week.
- Weekend work every other weekend; holiday work only if scheduled (Christmas and New Year's).
- No call or standby call required.
- Floating only within the facility.
- Dress code: professional scrubs of any color, professional appearance, no long nails, men must be clean-shaven.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience.
- Experience required in ER, ICU, and inpatient adult care.
- Pediatric experience preferred; training available.
- Certifications required:
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC (RRT preferred)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS
- STABLE Certification
- Must have a valid, unexpired driver's license.
- Must disclose any licensing issues at time of submission.
Skills and Duties
- Perform breathing treatments, ventilator management, ABG draws and analysis, and EKGs.
- Placement of arterial lines by core respiratory therapists.
- Manage a high volume of treatments (40-70 per therapist per day).
- Work under supervision of lead therapist or supervisor.
- Orientation includes general and classroom training, followed by approximately 3 days of shadowing with a preceptor.

- Hamilton C1 ventilators (invasive, non-invasive, high flow)
- Avea ventilators
- Bipap V60
- Vapotherm high flow devices
Additional Information
- Facility has an open ICU with 2 pulmonologists and 24/7 hospitalist coverage.
- Physicians and residents may perform intubations.
- Scheduling is set 4 weeks in advance by management.
- Travelers may be asked to work weekends only if preferred.
- Second interview and on-site skills assessment required.
