Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location: Pottsville, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Description
- Perform Diagnostic Ultrasound exams of designated anatomy independently, following physician specifications and established protocols.
- Requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
Work Schedule
- Shifts available:
- Night Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (1x8 hours)
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (1x8 hours)
- 8 hours per day
Required Qualifications
- Ultrasound Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Must have Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year.
- Valid state license as an Ultrasound Technologist.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC accepted (military certification not accepted).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check with recruiter).
- National Certification/Verification prior to facility start and upon expiration, as applicable by profession and state.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties, States, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Clearance required within 90 days of start (except remote workers outside PA).
- State-specific searches including Pennsylvania Medicheck, PATCH, and Child Abuse Search required within specified timeframes.
- Education verification for highest level related to specialty.
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per guidelines.
- Required vaccinations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start.
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for respirator use starting 04/07/2025.
- Fit test questionnaire and fit mask test required (not for 100% remote candidates).
- Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge and affidavit for provisional employment required prior to start.
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months of start (minimum passing score 80%).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months of start (passing score 88%).
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs and LVNs except certain specialties (may not apply to Ultrasound Tech).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and annual updates.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for RNs and LVNs (may not apply to Ultrasound Tech).

- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
- All documentation must be uploaded and maintained with appropriate expiration dates.
- Some requirements and exemptions apply differently for non-clinical or 100% remote candidates (not applicable here).
- Candidate must comply with all state and facility-specific credentialing and clearance processes.
