Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty

Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex on a medical/surgical unit. This position involves caring for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing evaluation. The unit is a mixed stepdown and acute care floor requiring close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and physician orders.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary.
  • Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
  • Communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
  • Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Approximately 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oklahoma.
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
  • Acute Care experience.
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
