Registered Nurse (RN) – Long Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility

Location: Canistota, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
Holiday Coverage: Every other holiday within scheduled block
Weekly Hours: 36 hours every other week (guaranteed)
Overtime: Available

Job Details

• Facility size: 55 beds
• Patient population: Elderly, including dementia patients and those in a behavioral program (schizophrenia, bipolar, paranoia) with stable medication management
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Approximately 1:45 overnight, 1:23 day shift
• Support: Med aide present from 6 PM to 10 PM; 1 nurse on duty from 10 PM to 6 AM
• Documentation: Most skilled and COVID-related charting occurs during the day shift
• EMR system: PCC
• Orientation: Includes training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts
• Work week: Sunday through Saturday
• No on-call or call-back required
• Local placement within 80 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Dakota
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience within the last year
• Skilled Nursing experience
• BLS Certification

Additional Information

• A $500 fee applies if the clinician cancels or quits with less than 14 days’ notice
• Housing: If facility housing is used, local rates apply
