Registered Nurse (LTC/SNF)

Location: Canistota, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday if it falls within your scheduled block

Job Details

• Facility type: Geriatric Long-Term Care (LTC) psych facility
• Patient population: Elderly, including dementia patients and a behavioral program with some schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Day shift approx. 1:23
  • Overnight approx. 1:45 (med aide support from 6-10 AM; 1 nurse from 10 PM-6 AM)
• EMR system: PCC
• Orientation includes training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts
• Work week runs Sunday through Saturday

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in South Dakota
• BLS Certification
• Preferred experience in geriatric psychiatric or LTC psychiatric nursing

Additional Information

• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Local placements within an 80-mile radius
• A $500 fee applies if the clinician backs out or quits with less than 14 days' notice
• Guarantee: 36 hours per week on 12-hour shifts or 40 hours per week on 8-10 hour shifts
• Med aide support available during early morning hours

• This position involves working primarily with elderly patients, many with complex behavioral health needs managed effectively with medication
• The facility runs a behavioral program alongside typical LTC services
