Registered Nurse - Critical Care (ICU/CCU) - Nights
Location: Aberdeen, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct, individualized nursing care to critically ill patients in an ICU/CCU setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring specialized equipment, patient education, and collaboration with the healthcare team to implement and evaluate care plans.
Shift & Hours
- Night shift: 18:45 to 07:15
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Minimum of 1 year of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members
- Administer and document prescribed medications via oral, subcutaneous, and IV routes; report adverse reactions
- Provide bedside nursing care and respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols
- Educate patients and families on post-treatment care, medication administration, diet, exercise, and rehabilitation
- Record medical information, vital signs, and all care provided accurately and timely
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and lab tests; take samples as needed
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments
- Apply Hemodynamic, Phlebotomy, and IV protocols
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, oxygen pumps, and interpret electronic displays (e.g., central venous pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, cardiac rhythms)
- Monitor catheters, leads, and tubing for proper placement and function; initiate corrective actions as needed
