Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Telemetry)

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week guaranteed (with up to 3 cancellations)

Job Description

• Work on a 24-bed MedSurg unit with Telemetry capability on all beds; heavy focus on Telemetry patients
• Adult patient population only; pediatric patients are assigned to permanent staff
• Float to all MedSurg units and ICU (handling MedSurg overflow patients)
• Strong neuro and cardiac nursing skills required
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:5 during day shifts
  • 1:6 during night shifts
• Support staff includes Telemetry techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory therapist and pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit; nurses manage IVs themselves
• Nurse managers do not provide direct patient care but perform rounds
• EMR system: Sunrise Allscripts
• Scrub color: any color except all black; scrubs not provided

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current RN license valid in Arizona
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS certification preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Location offers access to outdoor activities and is within a few hours of Flagstaff and Phoenix
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
