Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility Overview
- Children's Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
- Total Staff Beds: 181
- RN Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free in any unrestricted space; bike racks available
Work Schedule
- Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
- No on-call required
- No floating between units
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience & References
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format
Background & Screening Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exams, including EFM training for Labor and Delivery RNs
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
Additional Requirements
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- WA State multi-state licensed nurses must complete demographic attestation if applicable
- Float policy acknowledgment may be required (may float to nearby facilities)
