Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Night Shift
Location
- Towson, Maryland
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday shifts required as scheduled
- Block scheduling not accommodated; special scheduling requests must be submitted at application
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Adult and Geriatric patients
- Medical-Surgical telemetry unit
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Common diagnoses: CHF, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, pancreatitis, amputations, small bowel obstruction, atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias, cancer, palliative care
- Procedures/Equipment: EKGs, cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix - non-titratable within parameters), telemetry monitoring, IV pumps, oxygen, pulse oximetry, vital signs machines, sequential compression devices (SCDs), bed/chair alarms, chest tubes, Foley catheters
- Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call not required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (updated annually)
