Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Night Shift
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (6:15 PM - 6:45 AM), 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Every other weekend required, no on-call
- Unit: Acute care community hospital (300 beds) with ER, adult med/surg, adult critical care
- Patient Age Group: Infants through geriatrics required; neonates preferred
- Work Settings Required: Trauma, Community Hospital, ER, Adult ICU
- Preferred Work Settings: Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital, PICU, acute care pediatric experience
Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory treatments including nebulizers, chest physiotherapy (CPT), high flow oxygen, non-invasive ventilation (NIV), cough assist, and intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV)
- Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
- Manage mechanical ventilation and transport of mechanically ventilated patients within the hospital
- Provide continuous albuterol treatments
- Pediatric ER and pediatric care only if competency demonstrated
- Follow respiratory therapy-driven protocols
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory care experience
- Experience with airway management, medication administration, ventilator management, arterial blood gases (ABGs), oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP, CPAP
- Competency with bronchoscopes preferred
- Epic charting experience required
Equipment Experience (Preferred)
- Puritan Bennett ventilators
- Draeger ventilators
- Servo I ventilators
- LTV 1200/HT70 ventilators
Required Qualifications
- Current New Hampshire state respiratory therapist license (NH license pending accepted for subcontractors)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA provider only)
- Preferred certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Certified Respiratory Therapist Technician (CRTT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Additional Requirements
- Must not have been a former employee of any facility associated with the hiring health system
- Two current professional references within the last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, including 2-step PPD or equivalent
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (no exceptions)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (immune titer or 3 vaccines; declinations require waiver)
- Varicella (immune titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Annual fit mask test required (N95 or equivalent)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start
- Background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security verification
- National sex offender registry
- National and state criminal searches (excluding NH counties; NH state police search required)
- Education verification
- Motor vehicle background check if driving to patient homes (not applicable for this role unless specified)
- Pass/fail dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Medication and general competency exams required (for internal purposes)
- Photo for badge (passport style, jpeg)
- Compliance attestations and facility-specific immunization waiver forms as applicable

- First-time travelers accepted
- Reduced rates apply for local travelers
- Subcontractors with pending NH license accepted
- Candidates cannot start with pending drug screens or background checks (except NH county searches which are not required)
- Agencies responsible for running NH state criminal background checks if subcontracting
- Facility requires documentation of OSHA education (Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement)
- Candidates requesting medical or religious exemptions for vaccines must complete facility-specific waiver forms and provide appropriate documentation for approval
