Description

Mammographer (Mammography Technician)

Location: Marble Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM


Job Summary

Responsible for performing mammographic imaging studies to detect breast tissue abnormalities and preparing images for diagnosis. Duties include patient interaction, positioning for mammograms, radiation safety, equipment maintenance, and documentation. Also may perform bone densitometry and x-ray scans under physician supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Confirm patient identity and review imaging requests.
  • Explain procedures and equipment to patients to reduce anxiety.
  • Position breasts and adjust compression for mammography imaging.
  • Operate mammography equipment and adjust exposure settings.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure.
  • Maintain quality standards by reviewing and retaking images as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and patient drapes.
  • Document mammogram services in patient records.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Mammography Technologist license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist.
  • Mammography Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of immunizations and health screenings:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
  • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA test within required timeframes; chest x-ray if positive.
  • Fit testing for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite).
  • Annual 12-panel drug screen prior to assignment start and annually thereafter.
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment and updated annually.

Additional Onboarding Requirements

  • Signed assignment agreement and onboarding education attestation.
  • Completion of skills checklist and specialty exams prior to or at start of assignment, with periodic updates.
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation for initial and extended assignments.
  • Ongoing compliance with background checks, EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) checks, and employment verification updated annually or after breaks in service.

Experience
