Registered Nurse (Med Surg Telemetry)

Location: Prescott Valley, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Details

• Unit: Med Surg Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit (MST/PCU)
• Beds: 30 total (three 10-bed units)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Patient types:

  • Surgical: total hip & knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory laparoscopy
  • Medical: MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID-19
  • Telemetry: chest pain patients
• Respiratory care: stable CPAP or BiPAP patients
• Floating: May float to Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit (adult MST patients), and West Campus MedSurg Telemetry

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 1 year Med Surg experience (preferably with telemetry experience)
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam with at least 80% within two attempts before contract signing (failure results in 6-month disqualification)
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Willingness to care for both Med Surg Telemetry and PCU patients
• Willingness to precept nursing students

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Friday & Saturday nights; Saturday & Sunday days)
• Holiday rotation to ensure fair distribution
• Possible standby/call rotation during low census (travelers may or may not be included)
• Scrub color: any except camouflage

Additional Information

• Charge nurse oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, Pediatrics, and Acuity Adaptable MCU units
• Nurse aides assist with 10-15 patients; if no aide, RN provides primary care for 3 patients
• Radius rule: candidates must not have worked full time, part time, or PRN within 50 miles at any affiliated facilities in the past year
