    Description

    Registered Nurse (ER Float Pool) - Colorado Springs Zone 1

    Location

    • Based in Colorado Springs, CO area, covering a 60-mile radius zone including multiple hospitals/facilities within Zone 1:
      • Penrose Hospital (7 miles from city center)
      • St. Francis Medical Center (12 miles)
      • St. Francis InterQuest (13 miles)
      • St. Mary Corwin (46 miles)
      • St. Thomas More (45 miles)

    Contract Length

    • 13 weeks

    Schedule & Shifts

    • 12-hour shifts
    • Evening and Night shifts available (e.g., 3p-3a)
    • Approximately 36 hours per week
    • Weekend and holiday work required every other week
    • Schedules released 4–6 weeks in advance
    • Two scheduling formats:
      • Assigned to a single facility per week with possible floating within that facility
      • Just-In-Time (JIT) assignment: facility assigned 1–2 hours before shift start

    Floating Requirement

    • Must float throughout the entire Zone 1 (all listed facilities)
    • No home base facility; responsible for housing that allows floating within the 60-mile zone

    Orientation

    • 2-3 days unit/department-specific orientation
    • Week of orientation requires clinician to be in-state (even if some modules are remote)

    Patient Care Environment

    • Emergency Room (ER) Float Pool
    • Trauma Level varies (mostly Level 3 and one Level 4)
    • Majority of facilities are STEMI receiving and Stroke centers
    • Patient volume varies by location: 40-168 patients per day
    • Nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 1:4-5 depending on acuity
    • Mixed ER holds (no separate holding area)
    • No separate psych/seclusion rooms
    • Charge nurse present and takes assignments
    • Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
    • No monitor techs; RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
    • Point of Care lab testing performed by RNs after training
    • Techs assist with unit secretary duties, nursing support, and triage assistance

    Dress Code

    • Navy blue scrubs

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license for the state of Colorado
    • Experience in Emergency Room nursing preferred (years of experience not explicitly stated)
    • Ability and willingness to float across multiple facilities within the zone

    Additional Notes

    • Candidate interview process includes interview with clinical team; no unit manager involvement
    • Driver’s license must be submitted
    • Must be able to manage standard ER medications and drips
    • No call or standby requirements
