Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse
• Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days (4 x 10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
• Call Requirements:

  • 1 weeknight per week (5:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
  • 1 weekend per month (Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 6:30 AM)
  • Call on major holidays, rotating with core staff
  • Call response time: 20 minutes
• EMR System: Cerner

Work Environment

• 2 Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room (endoscopy)
• Average cases per day vary from 0 to 12; low census days may involve assisting other departments or working with supplies
• Common cases include General Surgery, Orthopedics (including total joints), Podiatry, Urology, OB/GYN (including C-sections), Pain Management, Cardiology (pacemakers, TEEs), and endoscopy
• Mostly adult cases with occasional pediatric orthopedic or appendectomy cases
• Scrubbing is not required for RNs
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor role exists but travelers will not fill this role
• OR techs are part of the team
• Scrub color and designated OR shoes are provided by the hospital
• Floating to Preop and PACU required; travelers may follow a case from OR to PACU on rare occasions
• Orientation length varies from 3 days (for those strong in Preop and PACU) up to 1 week, including Cerner training

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year circulating experience in OR
• Strong orthopedic experience required, including total joint procedures
• Willingness to train in endoscopy and cardiology cases
• Preferred experience in Preop and PACU as floating to these areas is expected
• First-time travelers are acceptable (prior travel experience not required)
