Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) - Albany, Georgia
Job Details
- Specialty: Oncology
- Location: Albany, Georgia
- Contract Length: 17 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
- Unit: Oncology, 7th floor (travelers will only work on the floor)
- Beds: 29
- Patient Types: Acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, end-of-life care
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Rotate with staff
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Nurse Aides: Yes, generally 3 per day
- Floating: Rarely, to medical acute
- Orientation: 3 days floor-specific orientation
- EMR System: Meditech
- Charge Nurse: Provided outside staffing grid except in unusual circumstances
- Telemetry: Central monitor available; reading strips not required
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Additional Notes: Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes (7am-7pm)
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in Oncology specialty
- Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel assignment required (no first-time travelers)
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) required
- NIHSS preferred
- ONS preferred if interested in chemotherapy administration
- Other Requirements: Must be within a 75-mile radius of the facility based on traveler’s driver’s license
This position is ideal for experienced Oncology RNs with prior travel experience seeking a day shift role in a specialized oncology unit.
