Registered Nurse (L&D) - Night Shift

Location

• The Woodlands, Texas

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Labor & Delivery unit with 12 L&D beds
• 2 OR suites on the unit for C-sections
• 4 triage beds
• 16 postpartum beds
• Approximately 160-200 births per month
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
• Surgical techs available on the unit
• OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia available in-house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.)
• No monitor techs; RNs read their own fetal heart strips using Watch Child monitors

Schedule

• Night shift (12-hour shifts)
• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Modified self-scheduling
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday work required
• No call or standby requirement

Responsibilities & Work Environment

• Not an LDRP unit; floating to mother-baby unit required occasionally (rare)
• RNs circulate and perform their own C-sections (no titration of drips)
• Charge nurse does not take patient assignments
• Floating between units required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Orientation

• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Night shift orientation from 7 PM to 7 AM every other week

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrub color
