Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Seeking a nurse with experience in Cardiac Catheterization Lab or Interventional Radiology (IR). Candidates with IR experience but no Cath Lab experience will be considered.
- Clinical duties include: STEMI care, EP Lab, interventional and procedural support, biopsies (GI, GU/Renal, Peripheral Vascular), and stent placement.
- Required skills: administration of blood/blood products, cardioversion/defibrillation, use of cooling/warming blankets, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and managing syringe pumps.
- On-call requirement: minimum one weekday and one weekend per month; shift hours may vary between 8 to 10 hours depending on staffing and vacation coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
- Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must include SSN trace, death master index, sex offender registry, education verification, and other checks as applicable.
- Education Verification for nursing degree (required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript).
- NURSYS verification for RN license status.
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and Health Screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable).
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit Mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually).
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates.
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system.
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start.
- Acknowledgement of float policy: may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
Notes
- Candidates must be able to work 4 ten-hour day shifts per week.
- On-call shifts include one weekday and one weekend per month minimum.
- Compact license holders are eligible if active and recognized by Washington state.
- Background checks and verifications must be current and compliant with state and facility requirements.
- Education verification and licensure validation are strictly enforced, especially for international education.
- Travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be considered.
