Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT-NICU)
Location
- Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
- Potential for mandatory on-call shifts (approximately 2 per month)
- Floating required within scope to ER, Adult ICU Stepdown, pediatric unit, and adult floors
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion
Job Description
- Position requires a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and adult respiratory experience
- Must be able to float between NICU, Emergency Room (ER), Adult ICU Stepdown units, pediatric unit, and adult floors
- NICU assignments vary by acuity; this is not a NICU-only role
- Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
- Experience preferred in NICU, ED, adult ICU, and level 2 trauma care
- Night shift requires ability to provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies
- Attendance at monthly department meetings required (or acknowledgment of meeting minutes if not working)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working with adult patients
- Proficiency with BiPAP therapy
