Description
Registered Nurse - Endoscopy (Travel)
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: Endoscopy Laboratory
- Beds: 9
- Staff: 11 full/part-time RNs, 2 PRN; typically 6-7 RNs and 2 techs on day shift
- Shift: Day shift only (5:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Patient Ratios:
- Intra-op team: 2 staff per 1 patient
- Pre/post-op: 1 RN per 2 patients
- Equipment: Olympus endoscopes and reprocessing equipment
- EMR System: Meditech
Typical Procedures
- EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
- Colonoscopy
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
- EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound)
- EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound)
- Infection control including manual cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes
Schedule & Call Details
- 2 opening shifts per month: 6:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- 3-4 weeknight shifts per month (Monday–Thursday): 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM (13.5 hours)
- 1 Friday shift per month: 5:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- 1-2 weekend shifts per month: Saturday 11:00 PM – Sunday 7:00 AM and Monday morning
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Endoscopy nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- PACU experience
- Experience with Olympus scopes and reprocessing
- Experience with circulating and tech procedures in Endoscopy
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Works well as part of an intraoperative team
- Comfortable caring for high-acuity patients during basic and interventional/therapeutic procedures with specialized physicians
