Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Winfield, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Night shift: 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Rotation typically 3 nights in a row, depending on department needs
• Every other weekend off (with occasional variations, communicated in advance)
• Approximately 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during shifts
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated with each contract renewal
• Education verification and transcript/diploma for highest completed education level
• State-specific exclusion list check (Kansas Medicaid)
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and general competency exam
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding education prior to start

Health and Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam and annual updates confirming ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel drug test within 12 months (annual updates may be required)
• Annual flu vaccination or documented declination for medical/religious reasons
• Proof of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training or signed attestation

References and Evaluations

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Performance evaluation required if employed over 1 year with previous employer
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Internal evaluations preferred if worked over 2 years with same agency

Additional Notes

• No radius rule applies; local nurses receive the same rate as travelers
