Description
Registered Nurse – Med Surg / Telemetry Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Germantown, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in Med Surg, overflow unit, post-surgical, and observation areas
- Patient ratio approximately 1:6 or 1:7
- Transitioning to team nursing model; LPNs will assist in this transition
- On-call and weekend shifts required as needed
- Weekend block scheduling generally not accommodated (may consider weekend block in some cases)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Med Surg / Telemetry, including experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, required for Med Surg/Telemetry and related units
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) – required and must be renewed annually (except for pediatric facilities)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (TN only) required
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation required annually or after one year with agency
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Proof of immunizations or positive antibody titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30); mask required if exempt
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
Additional Facility Requirements
- Two forms of government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license, social security card)
- Photo badge with strict guidelines (passport-style photo, no hats, no glasses glare, no filters, taken within last 6 months)
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year, must pass without limitations (no facial hair allowed)
- Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start
- Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
Scheduling and Submission Notes
- Start date: ASAP
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of application; late submissions will not be accepted
- Candidates may only be submitted to one job ID at a time per facility policy
This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with prior travel nursing experience who are ready to work in a fast-paced, team nursing environment on a travel contract basis.
