Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech
Location: Sacramento, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5 days per week, 8 hours per day, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized breast imaging procedures to produce quality diagnostic images.
- Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to ensure safe, precise, and timely results.
- Provide competent patient assessment, monitoring, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in California
- Minimum of 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT Mammography (ARRT M) certification
- ARRT Radiography (ARRT R) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Required Certifications
- ARRT Mammography (ARRT M)
- ARRT Radiography (ARRT R)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC only
Required Licenses & Verifications
- State professional license verification within 30 days of start (primary source online verification required).
- Hard copy of professional license or documentation including license number if not included in verification.
Required Background Checks & Screenings
- 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS III cannot be run).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List as applicable.
- Sex offender search within 90 days of start.
- Education verification of highest level achieved (not required if highest education is high school).
- Employment history verification for up to 7 years with no gaps over 30 days; full 7 years of work history required on application.
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days of start) or 2-step PPD; annual renewal required.
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30).
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
- Color blindness exam (in-person) if applicable.
- Respiratory safety clearance completed prior to start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
Competency & Additional Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually.
- May require IV certification (venipuncture) depending on role specifics.
- May require additional certifications or competencies as determined by position or department.
