Registered Nurse (Stepdown Float Pool)

Location: Columbus, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Schedule: Every 2nd weekend rotation, holidays required

Job Overview

• Float between Med/Surg/Ortho, Cardiac Step Down, Med/Surg Step Down, and ICU units
• Care for Med/Surg and Step Down patients
• Use Epic-EMR for charting, Accudose for some medications, and Hemochrone to measure ACT

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Cardiac unit: 17 beds
• Med/Surg Step Down unit: 13 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Med/Surg: 1:5 (can surge to 1:6)
  • Step Down: 1:4 (can surge to 1:5)
• Will never work alone

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Orientation & Training

• 1-2 days Epic training
• 1 day hospital regulatory training
• 1 day/night orientation on the floor with a preceptor

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white scrubs
• Closed heeled and toe shoes
