Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
  • Call: Call required
  • Experience Required: 1-3 years in cardiothoracic surgery (minimum 3 years preferred)
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
  • Role: Circulating RN in CVOR; ability to scrub preferred but not required
  • Residency Restriction: Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible (specific counties excluded)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
  • At least 1 year of experience in cardiothoracic surgery
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with follow-up if positive)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start

Background and Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Verification of highest level of education required (transcript or diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
  • Employment application and resume required
  • 7-year work history verification required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Clear headshot photo for badge

Additional Notes

  • Internal verification requirements include E-Verify and federal exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
  • Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement required
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
