Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Call required: approximately 10-12 call shifts per month
  • Rotating weekend call coverage
  • Every other Friday and Monday off when not scheduled for weekend call
  • Required to float to a nearby facility when needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Tennessee
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, with experience within the last year
  • Experience in Charge roles
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Orientation & Training

  • General orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable training, starting on Sundays (online CBLs)
  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
  • Additional overtime shifts may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty

Professional Responsibilities

  • Active participation in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for those licensed or working in Tennessee
  • Primary source verification of state nursing license and NURSYS verification required
  • Photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, contaminated sharps/body fluid exposure statement, smoking/tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire (time sensitive)
  • Respiratory fit testing completed onsite; must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start (not required annually)
  • Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31) with facility-specific documentation and approval
  • Immunization and titer requirements:
    • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
    • Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination accepted
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent) or chest X-ray if history of positive test

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with strong clinical skills, charge experience, and prior travel assignments. The role involves a demanding schedule with call responsibilities and requires flexibility to float to other facilities as needed.
