Respiratory Therapist, Days (Some Nights)

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM with flexibility to cover some nights
Schedule: Every other weekend

Job Description

• Perform various technical duties to administer respiratory therapy treatments to assigned patients.
• Operate within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
• Reports to Clinical Manager, Respiratory Care.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year.
• Associate degree or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Required Credentials and Compliance (Must be current and valid prior to start)

• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license (NBRC certification).
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
• NRP certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days, updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (part of Fit Test documentation).
• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) or proof of immunity via blood test.
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening: skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
• Physician Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days, updated if break >6 months.
• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry checks, updated as required.
• Social Security Number trace covering last 7 years.
• Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days of start and annually.
• Verification of highest level of education achieved.

Submission Requirements (Prior to consideration)

• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state for each position.
• Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the relevant skillset.
• Completed skills checklist within 1 year of submission.
• Candidate submission coversheet (current version).

Additional Notes

• A recent color photo (taken within past 6 months) is required for onboarding: plain background, symmetrical headshot, no eyeglasses, no filters or selfies.
• Positive TB test requires documentation of a negative chest x-ray dated after the positive test.
• Name change documentation may be required if credential names do not match legal name.
• Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for any extensions.

This position requires a minimum of Associate degree and valid Respiratory Therapist licensure in Massachusetts, along with certifications in BLS and NRP. The assignment is for approximately 13 weeks with day shifts and some night coverage.
