Registered Nurse - Med-Surg Telemetry Unit
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend and holiday shifts included
- No call required
- Floating to similar or lower acuity units as needed
- Patient population includes Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, Orthopedics
- Unit size: 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- No local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted
- May care for IMCU patients based on census
- Proficiency required with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
- Meditech experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in Med-Surg / Telemetry nursing within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Proficiency with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
- Experience with Meditech
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check: 7-year criminal history within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days while on assignment
- Education verification or diploma required within 90 days of start
- Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
- Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted except as placeholder)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (titer not accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; full lab reports required)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history)
- Hepatitis B titer (vaccine series not accepted in lieu of titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; if past positive, additional documentation required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions accepted (declinations not accepted)
- COVID vaccination proof required if vaccinated; unvaccinated candidates must complete declination form
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Candidates must complete facility-specific LMS modules during orientation
- Must sign facility-specific Code of Conduct Attestation, Confidentiality Statement, Certification Acknowledgement, Standards of Communication, Vehicle Registration Form, and TB Questionnaire
- ER RNs required to complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training onsite within 30 days of start
- COVID-19 screening questionnaire required within 15 days of start
- Skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Start date: Monday only
- RTO (Return to Office) must be included in submission to be honored at time of offer (no RTO inclusive of Fourth of July)
- Facility provides latex-free PPE; latex allergies acceptable
This position offers experience across a diverse patient population in a busy Med-Surg Telemetry setting with a supportive interdisciplinary team. Night shift nurses will gain exposure to a variety of medical and surgical cases with a manageable patient ratio.
