Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Olympia, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Position Overview
- Role: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float to postpartum (stable couplets) and pediatrics (ratio 1:3, caring for bili babies, feeder/growers, failure to thrive; no sick or respiratory patients)
- Orientation: 1-2 shifts provided if no prior couplet experience
- Block scheduling: Not available
- Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible for this travel contract
- Pending license accepted, but quick start preferred
- Level II NICU exposure (32 weeks gestation and up) with conditions such as RDS, sepsis, NOWS/NAS, hyperbilirubinemia, hypoglycemia, failure to thrive, short-term intubation, IV antibiotics, PPN/Lipids, EPIVs
- IVs performed independently; VAT used as backup
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty
- First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Registered Nurse license valid in Washington (pending license accepted for quick start)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
Clinical Competencies & Certifications
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam (AWHONN or NCC accepted)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- IV certification as required
- Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, CPI, NIH Stroke, Chemotherapy, MAB) may be required based on clinical track but not specified for this role
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care
- Total Staffed Beds: 325
- Charting System: EPIC
- Level II NICU with specialized neonatal care
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify attestation required
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory)
- Drug screen: 9-panel within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- WA State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required by Washington law
- WA Multi-State Licensed Nurses Demographic Attestation required for out-of-state compact license holders
