Registered Nurse (ICU) - Chandler, Arizona
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 full years of recent ICU experience (including at least 2 years in ICU). Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) ICU care. This is a night shift position with 12-hour shifts, typically 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years recent ICU experience required; neuro or CV ICU experience preferred.
- Experience with Level 1 trauma center patients including trauma, neuro-surgery, CVA, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, and post-operative cardiac cases.
- Comfortable working with advanced ICU equipment such as ventilators (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840), BiPAP, CPAP, and Airvo.
- Ability to interpret own cardiac telemetry strips (no telemetry techs on unit).
- Experience preferred in similar-sized ICU units.
- First-time travelers are welcome if experience requirements are met.
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Night shifts, 12 hours each, approximately 36 hours per week.
- Self-scheduling with manager oversight to balance unit needs.
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday-Saturday nights or Saturday-Sunday days).
- May have 1 holiday off during assignment.
- No additional call or standby shifts required, but may experience low census up to 3 times per contract.
- No nurse aides on unit except for sitters and Health Unit Secretary.
- 24/7 hospitalist or intensivist coverage.
- Respiratory therapists available 24/7.
Orientation & Additional Information
- Unit-specific orientation lasts 1-2 days.
- Scrub color: Navy.
- Floating required between sister ICUs, including medical/cardiac and trauma/neuro units.
- Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any related facilities within the past year.
- Flexibility to work extra weekends if unit is busy.
- Skills validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed.
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with strong critical care skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently interpreting telemetry and managing complex drips in a high-acuity environment.
