Description
Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, either 4x10-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM) or 5x8-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
On-Call: One weekday call per week and one weekend call every 2 months (closer parking available for on-call)
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Description
- Position is for a Radiology/Cardiology tech, not a nurse.
- Work schedule and call details can be discussed during the interview.
- Must comply with a 50-mile radius rule for commuting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Virginia.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually; must cover all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days.
- Education verification through a third-party vendor; official transcripts acceptable (photocopies of diplomas are not).
- Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check required for some units; facility will notify if needed.
- Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check required only for behavioral health units.
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required.
- Completion of employment application/resume and skills checklist as applicable.
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy, etc.) are not required for this specialty.
- National certification verification required within 30 days of start.
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm testing is not required for this tech role.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (Tdap after age 11) required; no exemptions allowed.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable; Tspot not accepted).
- Annual TB questionnaire if past positive TB test.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no declinations accepted for measles.
- Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required; if low/negative, additional antigen titer required.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required; declination accepted but must be documented.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions).
- Drug screening within 2 months of start and annually thereafter; 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl required.

- Candidate must complete various facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
- Professional Appearance Guidelines acknowledgment
- Release Authorization
- TB Screening
- Traveler Compliance acknowledgment
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles; completed onsite if needed.
- Latex allergy questionnaire required if applicable.
- Radiation badge for new candidates must be supplied by the facility (not provided by agency).
