Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech
Location: Los Gatos, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized breast imaging procedures, including biopsies and needle localization, to produce quality diagnostic images.
- Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to ensure safe, precise, and timely procedures.
- Provide competent patient assessment, monitoring, and effective communication to gain patient and healthcare team cooperation.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays (1-2 per month).
- Expected to perform 16-18 exams per shift.
- May orient other staff and perform specific departmental procedures.
Shift Details
- Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.
- Shift options: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
- Total hours per week: 40.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Mammography).
- Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard competency for Mammography Tech.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check covering all aliases, counties of residence/work/school, sex offender registry, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start.
- Education verification of highest level achieved (not required if highest education is high school).
- Official transcripts/diplomas may be required if verification attempts fail.
Certifications and Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on position.
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, IV Certification, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI) to be verified by position if applicable.
- National Tech Certification verification required within 30 days of start.
- Competency exams as applicable to profession, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG if relevant.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster.
- Negative TB test (QGold, TSPOT, or PPD) within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Immunity or vaccination proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30).
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.
- Color vision exam if applicable (in-person exam required).
Documentation and Orientation
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, abuse policy, HIPAA acknowledgment, confidentiality agreements, dress code, emergency contact form, and other regulatory and safety checklists prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start.
- Vendor training and code of conduct documents required for contracts signed on or after 5/31/2024 and 7/7/2025.
- Conditional offer of employment attestation must be completed prior to start.
- Religious exemption forms required only if applicable and approved.
Employment History and References
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; must include city and state of employment.
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
- Two professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates; one reference for per diem non-acute care.
- References are an Aya Healthcare requirement and do not hold up client clearance.
