Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio

Job Details

• Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Knowledge and certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS and ACLS must be current; renew if expiring within 30 days of start
• Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts)
• Other certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) not required for this specialty

Background & Screening Requirements

• Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; results must be on file before contract extension
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine (required annually; no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines require agency approval and facility review.

Documentation & Onboarding

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
• Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background) required
• Resume/CV with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years in acute care in a similar area
• Two professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director) required
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation form must be completed and valid within 12 months

Additional Notes

• Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
• Physical and eye exams do not need to be updated if currently on assignment without a break longer than 30 days
• Modules and onboarding must be completed before clearance to start; facility will not assign modules until 2 weeks prior to start date
• Candidates with a gap greater than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to repeat orientation and modules
