Radiation Therapist Travel Job – Richmond, Virginia

Position Overview

  • Employment Type: Travel contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours
  • Work Location: Radiation Oncology unit at a cancer institute in Richmond, VA
  • Typical Shift: Approximately 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Patient Volume: Treating 35-40 patients daily, including standard treatments and specialized procedures such as SRS and SBRT
  • Patient Setting: Mostly outpatient with minimal inpatient cases via ambulance service

Unit and Equipment

  • Staff Composition: 4 full-time, 1 part-time, and 1 PRN staff members
  • Equipment Used: Varian TrueBeam, Varian Trilogy, OSMS
  • Electronic Medical Record System: ARIA 15.5
  • Typical Procedures Performed:
    • 3D conformal radiation therapy
    • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
    • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
    • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in Virginia
  • Radiation Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • ARRT (T) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of USP 800 guidelines regarding hazardous drug risks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ARIA EMR system

Work Environment and Culture

  • Team-oriented environment; flexibility to work with different machines is important
  • Dress Code: Scrubs required; no color restrictions (standard royal blue common)
