Description
Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Monday through Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- Call: Rotational on-call every 4th weekend and 1 weekday
- Daily caseload: Approximately 12 patients per tech
- On-call required: Yes, rotational with other staff
- Locals within 75-mile radius not accepted
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Pending state license accepted
- Time off restrictions: One segment of time off per contract
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a scrub tech in Cardiac Cath Lab
- Experience with diagnostic cardiac procedures including coronary stents, STEMIs, vascular procedures, ICDs, pacemakers, loop recorders, carotid stenting, and pre/post procedure recovery
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cath Lab Radiology Technologist
- Recent Cath Lab Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start date, including:
- Statewide searches
- MO State Highway Patrol check (renewed annually)
- Nationwide and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
- Education verification of highest relevant degree required before start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including panels for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP; must be current throughout assignment
- MO Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required for certain clinical roles
- Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for IL home care)
- State-specific exclusion list checks for Illinois placements
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually; facial hair must allow proper fit
- Tdap vaccine or declination required (expires every 10 years)
- Two negative TB tests (PPD or T-Spot/Q-Gold) within 1 year of start; yearly TB questionnaire required
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September 30 - April 1)
Documentation & Onboarding
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred; specific additional references required for RNFAs)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Annual completion of facility-specific regulatory compliance education and HIPAA acknowledgment
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start)
- Review and sign facility policies including hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code prior to start
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital setting with 233 staffed beds
- Charting system: EPIC
- Parking: Free
- Scrub color provided
Hours & Scheduling
- 40 hours per week on day shift (5x8)
- Call every 4th weekend and 1 weekday on a rotational basis
This position is not open to first-time travel techs. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but candidates must meet the minimum specialty experience.
