Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting.
• Patient diagnoses include:

  • Cardiac Surgery (CABG, valve procedures)
  • Coronary Artery Disease (STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock)
  • Vascular procedures (peripheral bypasses, EVAR)
  • Thoracic procedures (VATS)
• Floating required within the specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed.
• Work every other weekend and scheduled holidays as required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Experience Requirements

• Specialty experience: At least 2 years in CVICU or open heart nursing.
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers with required specialty experience will be considered.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and state-specific searches, education verification, and sanction lists.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
• Health documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit test within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per specified protocols, updated annually.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap as applicable.
• COVID-19 vaccination currently not required for this location but documentation or declination may be requested for tracking.
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history.
• Required facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code acknowledgment, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates based on prior Epic experience.
• Floating and weekend/holiday work are mandatory components of the assignment.
