Registered Nurse – CVICU (Maryland, Largo)
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:30 – 20:00)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Start Date: June 29, 2026
- Location: Maryland, Largo
Unit & Patient Population
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Patient diagnoses include:
- Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve procedures, combined CABG/valve
- Coronary Artery Disease: STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock
- Vascular procedures: peripheral bypasses, EVAR
- Thoracic procedures: VATS
Job Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Work Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID
- I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification, and state-specific exclusions list (Maryland)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD as required; TB questionnaire if positive history
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, dress code review, badge photo, and job description acknowledgment
Competency Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Color blindness testing
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as applicable
