Job Opportunity: Staff Development Coordinator - Registered Nurse
Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)
Job Description
- Orient new employees to the facility and provide or schedule educational in-services for nursing staff.
- Conduct an annual skills day for nurses and nursing assistants.
- Ensure all nurses and nursing assistants maintain up-to-date licenses and certifications.
- Complete and mail nursing assistant renewal forms.
- Monitor and investigate all incidents and medication errors within the facility.
- Monitor infections within the facility.
- Provide direct patient care as needed 24/7 and assume on-call nurse responsibilities per policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting, with LTC experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours.
- Background checks including a 7-year criminal history, Social Security trace, nationwide sex offender registry, and other screenings must be current (within one year).
- Employment eligibility verification (I9, E-Verify) and attestation required.
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months prior to start; annual TB questionnaire if previously positive.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity (titer) or declination for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within the last 12 months (instant acceptable).
- Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and HIPAA compliance.
Additional Notes
- Must be available to provide direct patient care and be on-call as needed.
- Religious and medical exemptions for flu vaccine require completion of facility-specific forms.
- Performance evaluations and skills checklists may be required if previously employed with the agency.
This position is ideal for an RN with LTC experience who is interested in a travel contract role focused on staff development and clinical oversight within a long-term care setting.
